  • What “magis” means

The Latin word magis can be translated as ‘more, better, fuller’. Saint Ignatius of Loyola used this word to describe how authentic Christianity fosters a deeper connection with Christ and more zeal in serving others. This is the ‘more’ of MAGIS. From this perspective, the “+” (plus) sign can also be interpreted as the Cross – the symbol of divine love to the very end. MAGIS shows us the Ignatian way towards a fuller life.

The founder of the Jesuit order summarized the dynamics of Christian life in three words: know – love – follow. Contemplating the mystery of Christ’s life, immersing oneself in His message and studying His ways through the Gospel fascinates us and makes us yearn to follow His footsteps on our own paths in life.
