  • Living the MAGIS during the WYD in Krakow

Throughout “World Youth Day 2016”, flocks of youth from all over the world enjoyed to parade the beautiful streets, alleys and places of Krakow´s old town, thereby proudly swinging their national flags and merrily singing songs like “Mighty to save” or “Blesed are the merciful”. Besides the liveliness on the streets you could find three more popular meeting places: the so called “Magis Cafés”, where you were invited to attend workshops and to relax at “Magis Café 1”, to continue with a cup of coffee at “Magis Café 2” and finally to learn about the Jesuits and your personal vocation at “Magis Café 3”.

The “Magis Cafés” served as forums to make new friends, exchange your experiences, check your “Whats app group”, sleep, take your dinner… The young people in “Magis Cafés” and on the streets came from Brazil, Italy, Poland, France, Haiti, Germany, Zambia, Spain, Belgium, … you couldn´t even count all the countries. It was a true festival of nations, a festival of young adults gathering happily and excited as companions in Jesus Christ, celebrating their faith, their personal relationship with Jesus, with God and with each other. It must be the feeling of being loved by Jesus that made you feel so happy, a feeling that was deepened by a variety of spiritual programs which lead you into silence, into the depth of God´s love for you.

It was an amazing atmosphere of international companionship in Jesus Christ! The meetings and liturgies with Pope Francis were experiences on their own, igniting in us the fire of love for our brothers and sisters. Now we change our comfortable divans with a pair of shoes to go to wherever the Lord may send us!
